Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) is a condition formed when the blood vessel artery walls are constricted, thus forcing more pressure for the blood to circulate in the body. Excessive Sodium (Salty foods) and Calcium, plus excessive alcohol consumption, obesity, mental stress, and environmental living conditions are known to prevent absorption of liquids in the kidneys, thus increasing fluids in the blood vessels. If ignored, prolonged hypertension can cause kidney failure, heart disease, cardiac arrest, strokes, and potentially death.
Hypertension affects over 3,000,000 people each year in the USA, in particular adults over 60 years of age and remains the number one cause of medically related death.
Fortunately, our body can fight Hypertension with a healthy diet, exercise and weight control, in addition to prescribed medication, known as statins. It has been scientifically determined that foods full in nutritional value, low sodium (salt), no MSG, no baking soda/powder, no food base concentrates, and reduced saturated fats can be beneficial in helping to manage Hypertension and lowering blood pressure, therefore adding to a healthy lifestyle.
